Character NAME: Razputin "Raz" Aquato
Canon & MEDIUM: The Most Excellent (video) Game Psychonauts!
Canon PULL-POINT: The ending, right before finding out about his next mission
Character AGE: 10
Character ABILITIES:
Long story short, Raz is a spider monkey who can bend spoons. Short story long, his abilities fall within two categories: psychic and acrobatic. Raz was a performer in his family’s acrobatics troupe, and spent much of his free time training rigorously to hone his skills. As a result, he can climb, shimmy, slide, swing, and jump from just about anything with a balance and speed unbecoming of a small child. He’s also very resourceful and quick-thinking when it comes to his physical feats- anything can be come a tightrope, a grind rail, a trapeze, or a trampoline in his hands if he needs it to.
Raz has a pretty huge arsenal of stock psychic powers, all of which usually manifest as bright orange in color.
Telekinesis lets him move/throw/shove/otherwise manipulate things with his mind, via a large, transparent hand. He’s also developed a kind of psychic hand-to-hand combat that lets him punch/slap/karate chop things with his telekinetic hands.
Pyrokinesis lets him set things on fire by thinking about it really hard.
Psi Blasts are MIND BULLETS that Raz fires from his forehead and are powered by his mental aggression.
Invisibility lets him turn invisible (surprise surprise), but it’s a little draining so he can only hold it for about a minute, and then he can’t do it again for a short period of time.
Levitation is more like floating than flying- Raz conjures up a thought balloon that he can balance, roll and hop on, which gives him a lot more speed than running and more air than jumping. He can also float safely from heights by hanging on to the balloon.
Shield creates a force field that protects Raz from most attacks, but he can’t move while projecting a shield and, like invisibility, he can only keep it up for a short period of time.
Clairvoyance lets Raz see through the eyes of other people and even some objects (like security cameras) in order to get a better view of his surroundings or an area he otherwise can’t see. He can also see what other people think of him if he looks at himself through their eyes.
Confusion grenades are green, question-mark shaped bombs that Raz can throw to disorient an opponent with confusion gas, which causes dizzyness, blurred vision and general disorientation for about a minute.
In addition to all of that, Raz also has telepathy, which allows him to hear other people’s thoughts. He doesn’t use it very often at all, and when he does overhear someone’s thoughts (namely, Lili’s), it comes as a surprise to him. In the game, he was also able to use astral projection to enter other people’s minds, but he had to use a special door-shaped apparatus called a Psycho-portal to do so. Since hestole borrowed Sasha Nein’s Psycho-portal for most of the game, I’m assuming he probably gave it back after dealing with the final boss, so he can’t do this anymore. :U
It should be noted that Raz's psychic abilities are downright prodigial. In the intro of the game, Raz is able to keep all three of the camp counselors (who are official, trained Psychonauts) from reading his mind, and it's implied that he doesn't even have to work hard to keep this subconscious mental shield up. He learned all of his skills in a span of less than 24 hours. He's really powerful.
Character HISTORY: This one time, at psychic summer camp...
Have another wiki link if that one's not enough!
Character PERSONALITY:
Raz is your typical 10-year-old kid… who also happens to be a psychic prodigy and an accomplished acrobat. From an early age, his father put him through grueling acrobatics training, where he perfected many of the physical skills he still uses. His father was well aware of his budding psychic powers and trained him especially hard in order to teach him the self-discipline and responsibility he would need when he started developing his psychic ability and keep himself safe from the many enemies their family had. Of course, the first time Raz really needed his skills, his family and their supposed enemies weren’t a factor at all (at least not until the very end), but his training still came in handy. Raz can be very responsible about his abilities when he wants to be, but he’s not above having a little fun with them every now and then. Shooting things is fun and useful, after all.
He’s enthusiastic about everything, and is going to give 110% at any task he sets himself to. He likes to memorize and study up almost obsessively about things that interest him, as demonstrated by his word-by-word recital of the Whispering Rock informative booklet that led him to the summer camp in the first place. He’s not shy about sharing his interests with others and will get extremely animated when he finds someone who will listen to him prattle on. Whether this makes him an endearing little kid or a loudmouthed know-it-all varies from person to person. If you can get past his occasional geeking out, Raz is pretty easy to get along with, as he’s very friendly and outgoing. He’ll most likely approach you first, anyway.
Raz tends to have a fairly romanticized view of the world. His desire to become a Psychonaut comes from the hours he spent reading True Psychic Tales comic books, and even after getting first-hand experience in grappling with various types of psychosis (including his own!), he still has a very sensational, exaggerated view of the things they do. His ever-so-slightly rose-tinted view of the world leads him to be a little (okay, VERY) reckless, and he’ll charge headfirst into dangerous situations, fully confident that he can handle it. He hasn’t quite realized that he’s not invincible, and even gets indignant when he’s told to hang back because something is too dangerous.
Despite his recklessness, Raz is prone to bursts of maturity, intelligence, and wit beyond his years. When he DOES get in over his head (spoiler: happens a lot), he stays remarkably calm about it and deals with it the best he can… unless water is involved (we’ll get to that later). It’s also worth noting that he completed all of the training required to become a full-fledged Psychonaut within a span of 24 hours. Granted, there were lots of extenuating circumstances, but saying that’s impressive is a massive understatement. “Become a Psychonaut” was always pretty high on his list of priorities during his exploits at Whispering Rock, but once he became privy to the sinister forces at work, stopping what had been put into motion (and saving Lili) was his biggest concern, even when all the other children at the camp had shrugged it off as somebody else’s problem.
Raz hassuper drowning skills a crippling water phobia that stems from a legend about a curse upon his family, cast by a rival group of psychic gypsies. The curse, known as the Hand of Galochio, causes a ghostly, aquatic hand to reach out of water and drag an Aquato family member under, presumably to drown screaming and thrashing. Fortunately, the curse only seems to come into effect in water that’s deep enough for a person to submerge themselves in, such as a lake, so being in the rain and bathing are safe to do. Oddly enough, no one else seems to really notice the hands, so it’s entirely possible that it’s all in Raz’s head and he might even be creating hallucinations with his own psychic power. Of course, it still doesn’t change the fact that upon contact with deep water, he goes into full-on panic mode and is totally unable to function. Even just seeing a large body of water is enough to cause him to freeze up.

Chosen WEAPON: Raz is a fighter, but not a weapon user. As such, his chosen weapon will be his own psychic powers. Even though he's post-game, I'm going to say that he has learned all of psychic powers listed in his abilities section, but they are not upgraded yet, so he'll have something to evolve as he improves his skills. FOR EXAMPLE:
Psi Blast: Eventually, his PSI Blasts will ricochet off of several targets before dissipating
Pyrokinesis: He will be able to cause small explosions in addition to setting things ablaze
Invisibility: He'll be able to stay invisible longer (a few minutes at most)
Levitation: The more speed he builds up while rolling on the ball, the more damage it will do when it collides with something else. It's called Wrecking Ball in the game for a reason.
Shield: He can keep the shield up longer, and will push back/harm enemies that attack it directly.
Telekinesis: He'll be able to manipulate objects from farther away and his psychic attacks will be stronger.
Confusion Grenades: The disorientation effect will last longer.
On top of all of that, he will also eventually be able to use his abilities more often and with less exhaustion.
Character INVENTORY: Raz's clothes and a backpack decorated with merit badges. Everything in his backpack is... actually kinda useless outside of mental worlds/Whispering Rock. Unless you guys need an old piece of bacon, a dowsing rod, and a mental cobweb duster? Yeah, didn't think so. The only real thing of note is a tattered notebook he writes his to-do list and other notes in.

First PERSON:
[A young boy appears on the screen, a serious expression and huge bug-eye goggles on his face. He gives a curt salute to the camera.]
Greetings, Initiative! I'm pleased to announce that you now have an ace Psychonaut joining your ranks! Agent Razputin Aquato here, reporting for duty!
[He lifts the goggles up on his aviator's cap, then grins.] But you guys can call me Raz!
[He inches closer to the screen, his hands balled up in fists with anticipation.] So is this actually for real? Do we really get to time travel? 'Cause that sounds SO COOL. SO. COOL. Have you guys ever seen a dinosaur? How about met your great-great-great-great grandmother? Can we go back in time and hang out with famous people? Or is that against the time rules? Lemme guess, we're not allowed to go back and meet our past selves because that would wipe out time forward and backwards, wouldn't it?
[It's like everything this kid knows about time travel he learned from comic books. Oh wait.]
Third PERSON:
Some would call this place drab. Depressing. War-torn and gray. But where most would see stark and boring, Raz saw endless possibilities. He stood atop a lamppost, hands on his hips as he surveyed his surroundings, and wondered where should I go today?
He had his reservations about this whole Initiative thing at first. He had a girlfriend now! And a father-son relationship to repair! And he had just saved the world and become a Psychonaut at long last! Did I mention the girlfriend already? He had so much going for him, and then, BAM, transported to another world. Gotta hate when that happens.
But then, Raz figured he was going about this the wrong way. This was an opportunity, so to speak. A way toshow off further prove himself and hone his skills. Show everyone that saving the world once wasn't just a fluke. He would save it again! A completely different, world, even! He would- well, okay, they won him over at "time travel". But he really did think about these things.
It was the same thing with this city, you know? Yeah, it was pretty much a dump, but it was full of stuff to climb! None of his skills would get rusty here, that was for sure.
"All right, big city, let's see what you've got!" He said to no one in particular as he summoned up his levitation ball and hopped off the lamppost.
» ADDITIONAL NOTES
I played him previously in Mayfield but he's going to be a clean slate here.
