OOC: Clairvoyance Permissions Post!
Jul. 11th, 2010 06:13 pmHey guys! Raz is getting his Clairvoyance back as a regain. and since it works on other people I figured I'd make sure everybody was cool with it. Basically, Clairvoyance lets Raz literally see through other people's eyes. He can use it to spy on stuff and see into places he otherwise can't go. It's the power he got in the Milkman Conspiracy level, so it's about time he got it in Mayfield. :D
Here is how it works:
-Raz has to be within close proximity to someone to use it. He has to be able to see them, at least.
-However! If Raz has a personal belonging of the person/animal/thing he wants to see through, he can use it remotely. For example, a puzzle in the Milkman Conspiracy had him use it on a feather to get a bird's eye view of a certain location.
-This works on inanimate objects like cameras, too. Basically anything, living or non-living, that can "see", although I'm going to say it stops working if the camera is turned off.
-THE FUN PART: If Raz looked at himself through someone else's eyes, he'd see himself as they saw him. So while Clairvoyance was pretty useless outside of the Milkman Conspiracy, it was still worth using everywhere because every NPC in the game including enemies saw Raz as something different.
Here's some examples to show you what it looks like:

A lot of you are familiar with Milla, of course! She sees Raz (and most likely every child on the planet) as a baby.

And then there's Sasha Nein, who runs Raz through someexperiments "advanced training" because of his potential. He sees Raz as a small version of himself.

Bobby Zilch, the camp bully? Sees Raz as a target.

Nils, the camp's cassanova kid, sees Raz as WARNING WARNING NOT FEMALE BACK AWAY SLOWLY

All of the emotional baggage see Raz as a bellhop, since he's the one who reunites them with their luggage tags

The dogs in Gloria's Theater see Raz as... uh... well, yeah.

Mikhail, the badass Russian camper, meanwhile, is the only character in the entire game who sees Raz as... Raz.
(don't you want to play Psychonauts and find out all the rest now? :D?)
So TL;DR, lemme know if you're cool with Raz using Clairvoyance on your characters or not, as well as if you want him to get a hold of any personal belongings so he can do some long-distance spying (we can work it out either ICly or OOCly if you prefer). Also, if you have any ideas of what Raz would see if he looked at himself through their eyes that would be pretty cool, too. :D
I should probably note that this will be used sparingly. Unless he has a really good reason to, Raz won't be peeking in on you at all hours, and he'll probably save it for spying on the drones (which might not even work). Also, this isn't mind-reading: even though he CAN see what somebody thinks of him, he can't hear what they're thinking right then and there.

Date: 2010-07-11 11:06 pm (UTC)Wulfenbach would probably see Raz as a less-drastic version of what Milla sees him as (he also has a soft spot for children).
RED Spy would see Raz as a tool of some sort.
BLU Medic would see Raz as a walking kidney with goggles (don't ask).
And Smaug? Smaug would probably see Raz the same way that I assume the camp animals do -- dinner.

Date: 2010-07-12 01:07 am (UTC)ALSO as far as having a possession of his and using it for spying, the bird example might actually work. Hanekoma's got big floofy angel wings, but they are TOP SEKRIT and he doesn't let anyone know about it. If Raz found one of his feathers and realized he could see through Hanekoma's eyes with it, that might be cool.
tl;dr yes this looks awesome and I am down with it.

Date: 2010-07-13 03:06 am (UTC)Would his feathers just be lying around anywhere?

Date: 2010-07-13 04:12 am (UTC)And hmm. Raz could find one in the front yard of 453 Stone Street? Hanekoma got up on the roof in an attempt to escape the freaky jellyfish monsters that his son sicced on him as a joke -- posted with this just earlier, actually -- and since he probably used his wings to do it, a feather could've come loose and landed near the house.

Date: 2010-07-13 10:31 am (UTC)Yuki, however, will be able to tell if she is being spied upon and also has the ability to block it. She probably won't care enough to ever do so, though.
